# LW RF Studio

> LW RF Studio is Windows software by lw tech (a brand of Wattlet AS, Lillehammer, Norway) for RF engineers. It designs and simulates printed PCB antennas (IFA, MIFA and others) with the open-source openEMS FDTD solver, and it builds the matching network on an interactive Smith chart with real parts. LW Antenna Check, a free KiCad plugin, simulates the VSWR of the antenna on an open KiCad board.

Facts:
- Program: LW RF Studio, Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit, self-contained. It contains two tools: PCB Antenna Lab (antenna design and openEMS simulation) and SmithMatch (matching on a Smith chart).
- Simulation: openEMS FDTD with an automatic mesh. Results: S11, input impedance, VSWR, Smith chart, resonance and -10 dB bandwidth, 2D and 3D radiation pattern with directivity and efficiency, and the surface current on the copper.
- Import: KiCad .kicad_pcb, Eagle .brd, Autodesk Fusion Electronics .fbrd, Altium .PcbDoc, Gerber and Excellon files (also panels), and MATLAB pcbStack scripts. Export: KiCad, Eagle and Altium footprints.
- Matching: interactive Smith chart, automatic L-network proposals, and the values of the Würth Elektronik design kits (WE-MK 0402 inductors, WCAP-CSRF 0402 NP0 capacitors).
- Trial: the full version is free for 30 days on each PC. A licence is for one PC, perpetual, no subscription.
- Privacy: simulations run on the user's PC; designs are not uploaded. The program contacts lwtech.org at start for the trial and licence check.
